Commissioner Eric Colvin completes NACo’s High Performance Leadership Academy
Commissioner Eric Colvin successfully completed the National Association of Counties (NACo) High Performance Leadership Academy, a 12-week online program that equips frontline county government professionals with leadership skills to achieve results for county residents.
NACo’s High Performance Leadership Academy features a robust curriculum developed by the Professional Development Academy in partnership with Fortune 1000 executives, public sector leaders and world-renowned thought leaders, including General Colin Powell and Dr. Marshall Goldsmith.
“The NACo High Performance Leadership Academy provided a unique and challenging professional development experience that will help us accomplish our goals in St. Mary’s County,” said Commissioner Colvin. “The mix of real-time instruction, webinars and working with a cohort of colleagues gave me the chance to learn from distinguished experts alongside county professionals who are facing similar challenges and opportunities.”
The High Performance Leadership Academy focuses on five essential skills: leading, organizing, collaborating, communicating and delivering. It emphasizes real-time instruction, small-group learning and knowledge exchanges.
“NACo’s High Performance Leadership Academy is a groundbreaking program designed to help county professionals achieve their full potential in service to residents,” said NACo Executive Director Matthew Chase. “Through this academy, county professionals sharpen leadership skills that are the building blocks of healthy, safe and vibrant counties across America.”
More than 3,000 professionals from more than two-thirds of the nation’s counties completed NACo’s Leadership Academy since 2018.
