About Eric
Born and raised in St. Mary’s County, Eric attended Leonardtown Elementary, Middle and High Schools. He’s the oldest of five children, and you may see his siblings around the county in their various jobs and hobbies. Eric attended Salisbury University where he double majored in Political Science and History and minored in Marketing. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bellevance Honors with Distinction and was selected as the graduation speaker at his commencement. Eric also earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from The College of William and Mary. Eric’s career has been with several local defense contractors and he supports a group of talented engineers at Webster Field in St. Inigoes.
Eric is currently serving in his first term as County Commissioner for St. Mary’s County Commissioner District 1. He won a strong majority of votes in a highly competitive three-way race in 2018. As commissioner, Eric works to be transparent, responsive, and involved to best serve the citizens of St. Mary’s County and to build a better future for our children. He strives to be a consensus builder and to continually learn. He actively participates in the Maryland Association of Counties (MACO) and the Tri-County Council (St. Mary’s, Charles, and Calvert) to build relationships, improve his awareness of issues and advocate for St. Mary’s County. Eric is also a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Information Technology Standing Committee.
Eric and his wife Joanna and their son live in Valley Lee. They have a flock of chickens, including a Jersey Giant named “Heavy Duty,” a Polish named “Martina McNugget,” and a Buff Orphington named “Buttercup”. Eric and his family are members of the Nazarene church.
